New Year Resolution 2010 Devotion

As we begin a New Year (2010) I am sure you have thought about making some New Year's resolutions.  Here is a sampling of resolutions people usually make:

  1.  Spending more time with family and friends.

  2.  Getting Fit and taming the bulge

  3.  Quit smoking.

  4.  Enjoy life more.

  5.  Quit drinking.

  6.  Getting out of debt.

  7.  Learning something new.

  8.  Helping others.

  9.  Getting Organized.

10.  Taking up a new hobby.

These an others are usually on the "Top Ten" list every year.  These are reasonable goals and with a little help you can accomplished even the hardest of them.  However which New Year’s resolution is important to you?  Spending more time with family and friends?  Volunteering more?  Being quick to kindness and slow to anger?  Smiling more?  Cutting down (eliminating) vices?  Spiritual growth? Loving more?  I like this one.  The bible reminds us that the greatest commandment of all is to Love.  Matthew 22: 36-40 says, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" And Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  On these two Commandments depend all the law and the prophets."

How about making "Loving More" one of your resolutions for 2010.

 Happy New Year,

  Pastor Wayne
